Parents always want the best for their children. For them to succeed in life, be happy, and fulfilled. As we do for ourselves, but it is paramount for our kids. We’ll sacrifice for to give them every opportunity we can, ones that we may not have had. So for our Ecofy community, here is an interesting article from Inc. about a research study that points to possibly the single most important thing:
“Buying a neighborhood is probably one of the most important things you can do for your kid,” Ann Owens, a sociologist at the University of Southern California and an author of the study, told The Washington Post, which reported on her work. “There’s mixed evidence on whether buying all this other stuff matters too. But buying a neighborhood basically provides huge advantages.”
I’m personally a fan of read, read, read, and read some more. Of course that depends on if you can get your child to read… and even what they read. Where you can live is a high level approach that isn’t always achievable for many due to obvious financial issues. It is a great goal to aim for however! Always remember extracurricular activities will also help your child build self confidence and learn skills such as being a great team player and leader which they will carry with them for their entire lives. Always have short AND long term goals.
